Starting school is an exciting time for both children and their families. At Templeton School we work hard to ensure each child has a positive and successful transition to school. We look forward to building a wonderful relationship with you, your family and your child.
Enrolment Procedures
To help with our planning, we encourage you to enrol your child at least 12 months before he / she is due to start school. Please feel free to download the Templeton School enrolment form below.
Pre-Entry Visits
As your child's fifth birthday approaches you will receive an email from our Junior School Transition teacher Anna Cousins, inviting your child to attend two pre-entry visits. The first visit your child may be accompanied by a parent and on the following visit your child may want to attend independently. All visits start at the beginning of the school day at 8.55am. The first visit concludes at 11.30am and the second visit concludes at 1.30pm. Pre-entry visit days are Thursday mornings.
If your child turns five during January or early February of the summer holiday break he / she will be invited to attend a group pre-entry visit at the end of term four of the previous year.
Anna is available to meet with parents before their child starts at school. Please contact the OFFICE to book a time.
Transition to School Mornings
When your child is enrolled at Templeton School, you will receive an invitation to attend a Transition to School Morning. These hui/meetings are held twice yearly. You will be invited to attend the hui which occurs within six months of your child's fifth birthday.
Start Date
We ask that your child starts school on the closest Monday after their birthday. This allows us to make Mondays a wonderful transition day for children to start.
Changing Contact Details
Whenever there is a change of address, home or business telephone numbers, hours of work, medical information, or family circumstances, please inform the school promptly. Out of date information can mean that we are unable to contact you in an emergency.

Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Third priority will be given to applicants who are children of board employees.
Fourth priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third and fourth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
